Dr. Kyle L. Florio
Dr. Kyle Lee Florio grew up with his parents and younger brother in the piney woods of northeast Texas. He graduated from Longview High School where he earned the Texas Advanced School Diploma with Honors. He was a member of the Longview Lobos baseball team.
Dr. Kyle Florio attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for two years on a full NCAA Division I baseball athletic scholarship. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and a master of science degree in biological sciences from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Kyle earned a doctorate of optometry degree in 2004 from The University of Houston.
While enrolled in optometry school, Kyle completed rotations at the Texan Eye Care, University of Houston College of Optometry, and at the Children’s Development Clinic, Delay Center, Houston, Texas. Dr. Florio completed an externship in primary care, contact lens, LASIK pre-op and post-op care at Texan Eye Care. He also completed an externship in ocular disease diagnosis and treatment at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
At the hospital Dr. Florio completed dilated ocular examinations of adult patients of all ages; provided pre and post-operative cataract surgery care; and diagnosed and treated an extensive number of cases of glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration. He holds a therapeutic license and is an optometric glaucoma specialist. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association-Central Texas chapter, and the Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity.
Dr. Florio is a religious man who thanks God for all He has done to make him the man he is today. He approaches all of his patients, personal, business, and professional relationships with honesty and integrity. He enjoys golf, fishing, hunting, and camping. He holds deep respect for the environment. Dr. Florio is an Eagle Scout.
